House "Clearing" or Home/ Land Tending is Reciprocity in Action
Before we "clear" or "cleanse" anything, we need to honor Land. We ask: who all lives here? Who calls this space home? Who were the first humans in relationship with this land, through time?
You are not the only "person," who lives in your house, even if you think you live alone ;-)
There are energies, spirits, histories, contexts, earthworms, mycellium, house spiders, birds, perhaps even feral cats, possums; night creatures you never see, but those who come to visit. They also live in your world.
In this context, house clearing is also coming into alignment with all that your home is; all parts of the space you call home.
This is why I put "clearing" in quotations; there is often less to clear or banish, and more to consider in regards to values, alignment, and waking up the inherent energy of supportive elements/ spirits in your home.
This is custom service I offer, based on your needs in the home, at present. I will guide you toward becoming the primary steward of your hearth and the land you live on, regardless of who "owns" the house or land (You may "rent," but the energy, reciprocity and daily care is your responsibility. And most spirits don't give a fig about the white western colonial concept of private property, anyway...)
House Clearing is an energetic reset
You may seek a house clearing if:
Or anything you're experiencing that's unlisted here that you'd like support with.
Fill out this form to request a complimentary 30-minute phone or video call, to discuss your needs, and how I might support!
We do it together!
We do it together! I am 100% invested in rendering this service well, and sharing my process so you can learn these methods and implement them yourself. I’ll share what I am doing, how, and why, as I go. My aim is that you’ll be empowered to tend your hearth going forward, with a great set of tools and a general understanding of an energetic blueprint of your space.
Part 1: Assessment
I'll verbally ask about any issues present, including feeling out any energetic heaviness or stuckness, anything that feels oppressive or disorienting.
Next you'll give me a full tour of all of what you consider home. We may even walk around your neighborhood, as needed. I'll be able to:
* Determine the heart(s) of your home; the core places that dictate the energetic balance of your home overall
* Note any Land signatures. Any portals? Crossroads? Earth spirits, ones my ancestors would have called sidhe, sith, or faerie folk.
(For example: I once lived in a duplex that was surrounded by five oak and poplar trees, strikingly spaced out into a pentagram-like shape, with the duplex itself right in the middle. Also… the mushrooms! So many mushrooms always sprouting beneath these trees. Land spirits were quite active here.)
*Ascertain any strong energy signatures, be they historic, spiritual entities, present physical influences (rowdy people, human habits, and so on) ghost cats, etc. (I'm kidding on that last one! but actually...)
*Take note of who all your "neighbors" and "housemates" are; human and non-human. You may have friends or ready allies waiting for you to notice them, toward guarding your home and keeping its energy running well.
We will also take the time to determine:
Whose Land? Who were the first humans living on the land your house calls home? From there we will develop a study plan for you (and me) to learn more about these folks, their life-ways, and how they relate to Land, who and where their descendants are, and where they are active.
To start, use this helpful map: https://native-land.ca/
Part 2: Clearing Matter and Spirit
We start with some light housekeeping. A kitchen witch wields a broom (and dustpan) as well as they set a ward for protection. This may include:
* Organization, or a custom accessible plan for your own implementation at a later date (with accountability check-ins for support!)
*Dusting, opening windows, washing down specific places or surfaces with lemon and rosemary, an oil wash, or a cleaning mix of my own design (custom for your home and your needs)
*Sweeping and/ or mopping. Dust mopping.
*Anything else we might note that physically needs to happen before any energetic cleansing will really "take"
Next, we integrate the Energetic Cleansing. It will happen in this order:
* Make offerings to Land, and to spiritual supports and allies. Acknowledge and give many thanks for their presence.
* I will use sound, water (lustration, or saining, in my ancestral practice), directional intention, and ocassionally smoke. The plants I collaborate with to smoke- clear include Mugwort, juniper and lavender. I have embodied relationship with these plants, and have been a student to these plants for several years now. My ancestors would have utilized these plants in a very specific way (not so much lavender, but I love Lavender; we go way back.) Our modern pace and livelihoods require adaptation, but I honor these plants as best I can in the ways my ancestors did.
"Energy clearing" is just about breaking up any calcified spiritual influences, and waking up and empowering energy/ entities whose larger influence would benefit all involved; there is not one way to do it, and there is not a catch-all method that works for every situation.
Usually what works is a combination of: breaking up energy, expulsion of negative influences; an emphasis on empowering spirits that could mitigate chaotic influence, and so on.
Part 3: Altars, Warding & Protection
Altars:
During Part 1: Assessment, we will have identified where/ what in the home feels like a center of activity, warmth, and love. This is often found in the kitchen; the modern hearth. But spaces are increasingly diverse: old builds, new builds, homes that used to be one home now split into four or two. Because of this, spaces can have multiple or split hearts, hearths, and undulating "nervous systems." It can be helpful to meet a place where it’s at and notice where it’s been, too.
We will set up an altar near or in the "heart" with objects and items you already own, to amplify the warming spirit of your space and to contextualize how you’re choosing to interact with your home.
It need not be large; something simple is often most powerful.
This will also be a place you can make offerings to your allies, and to Land. Your altar will be a physical manifestation of your spiritual experience there, symbolizing your commitments to home, your loved ones, to yourself, and to the spirits present there.
Warding & Protection:
Occasionally this is a necessary final step. If you live in a high-traffic area energetically, or you happen to live in a space that had a history of volatility (you may or may not have conscious awareness of this) it may be good to set up energy traps.
(I once lived underneath crossing power lines near a really weird crossroads… Vehicle drama and car accidents? Yup. Not exactly cozy energy.)
We’ll discuss and make a plan for implementation. If this topic is of general interest, this book has saved my sweet behind on more than one occasion.
Part 4: A Plan Going Forward
After the clearing work and setting up any altars or wards, we will a design a custom plan that is created around what is sustainable for you, toward energetic upkeep in your home. This may include:
* Altar upkeep
* Offerings, and honoring commitments
* General clearing practices
* How to charge or replace wards, as needed
* Further resources for your ongoing skill-building and home/self- care in this area of life.
This piece is crucial, and it is my gift to you. This part will be comprised of suggestions, not rules! Boundaries, fluid ideas, but also,
yes, a functional, accessible checklist (this Virgo cannot help themself.)
$300-$600 sliding scale.
BIPOC folks sliding scale $99-$499
*a lot of what is disturbed in Land right now is due to historical, and current colonial trauma and racialized violence and displacement. It is my honor to offer this service to BIPOC folks at least cost or for trade and barter.
Payment plans, trade, and barter are available for ALL at the $300-$600 sliding scale. (no “interest” on payment plans! )
Even if you utilize a $99 payment, you can break it up into 3 payments of $33 over 1-3 months, for example. It is no matter to me! Just looking for exchange for intensive energetic and physical labor.
Barter and trade may look like:
And lots of things that I haven’t even considered! If you have a skill, craft, or offering, please let me know about it. Let’s do some anticapitalist experimentation together!
This is an in-person custom service.
I choose not to charge based on my “time” in this process; if I complete this type of working to my own satisfaction and standard, it can take up to five hours, but it may not take that long. I wouldn’t be surprised if, on occasion, this requires a multi-day investment of time.
Furthermore, this pricing is in consideration of my physical and emotional recovery after big work like this.
Lastly, this offering is reflective of a lifetime of sensitivity, learning boundaries with the ancestral realm and spirit world- the Otherworld- thousands of dollars and decades of investment in private study with appropriate teachers.
I am an anti-capitalist and a spiritual worker; as always I offer what I can through work I do within my spiritual and ancestral lineage: Bean Feasa, faerie doctors and hedgewitches of Celtic, Germanic and Anglo - Saxon descent.
This section is not about having healers or witches that I know in this lifetime in my lineage. It is about blood wounds.
There is a hoarding disease in my immediate bloodline, related to generational trauma surrounding extreme poverty and the great depression.
I grew up visiting on old house in a (at the time) very rural part of the US state I grew up in. This house was hand-built by my great-grandparents, and it was very haunted with energetic imprints of violence.
This is as explicit as I care to be here, out of respect for my family, and my ancestors who have willingly completed some healing work with me. Suffice it to say that Land, history and the magic or malice of place and space was impactful in my life before I had language to name it, or the knowledge to tame it.
My childhood is marked physically by energetic impressions and sensitivity: my stomach always tells the truth.
I could recognize when a space was off, when there was maybe a fight in a room, minutes or hours before I passed through it.
I have also always received impressions from people, and I noticed when what they expressed outwardly didn’t match what I was feeling from them, underneath. I cannot remember a time when this wasn't the case. It's not as though I can tell exactly what someone is obfuscating, I just know when it's happening.
I understood very early that my “knowing” was correct, but shared insights didn’t go over well, so I just kept them to myself. As a result of this misalignment, I had an anxious stomach with weekly debilitating flare-ups from approximately ages 7 to 22, until I began collaborating with consciousness expanding medicine. These medicines helped me integrate everything I was taught to suppress, and over time I've been able to stop lying to myself about the information I receive intuitively.
Now, as an adult, when I encounter a disconnect between what's presented to me, and my intuitive impressions, I may keep it to myself, but it is still information I can take empowered action on. Even if all that means is that I leave the room or exit a situation.
My body has been a pendulum (or dowsing rod) for my entire life. And it has taken me these thirty-plus years to learn to use this tool. And I am still learning.

I have learned most of what I know about house clearing from an immersion with Danielle Dulsky, teacher at The Hag School. We both have Celtic ancestry, and her studies with her own Irish teacher have been the roots that source a lot of nourishment for my practice.
In 2019 I attended an ancestral healing intensive workshop for one weekend, with Dr. Daniel Foor, and associates from Ancestral Medicine group. It was here I learned how to notice the way my ancestors show up for me, how some ancestors feed off me, and how this affects my lineage. I acknowledge the way this shows up historically, across the world, family unit to family unit. And this context deeply informs the way I approach Land, as a descendent of settler colonizers learning to un-settle and be in repair with Land, all her people, and the humans that were here before me and mine.
In general since I've ever learned the art of divination, energetic manipulation and space/ house clearing, I've offered these services openly to friends and loved ones. Several friends have taken me up on performing divination on their behalf. One friend requested I come cleanse her house.
This friend was struggling with bouts of crying and feeling lethargic in her home. It also happened to be the home she grew up in, through her childhood. In adulthood, she lived there alone with her sweet cat.
I scheduled a time to do the work with her. First I walked through the house and had her explain the spaces we walked through.
We then cleaned off her kitchen counters and washed them down with a bay leaf and lemon wash. Then I walked the house with a bundle of juniper, in a deosil direction (against the Sun, or, counterclockwise) with as many doors and windows open as possible. I spent extra time in the places that felt sticky; one spot in particular showed me what was stuck there. It was emotional, and laden with grief. And it seemed to be playing on a loop of itself over and over. It was time for this energy to be released. And it was.
After the smoke cleanse, I relayed to my friend what I saw. she confirmed her experience with that space with me, and thanked me.
We set a plan for her housekeeping going forward, and I encouraged her to use sound to break up energy from time to time, particularly in one part of the house that didn't see much use.
A month or two later, this friend announced that her mom was going to help her remodel and update parts of her house, starting with her kitchen! I was fortunate enough to come visit for snacks and an art night after this renovation was mostly finished, and we had a lot of fun!
I like to believe that our cleansing ritual day played at least a small part toward opening the door to those physical renovations, turning her home into a place that reflected her adult life.

Between the years 2014 and 2026 I have lived in no less than nine homes. Between 2021 and 2024 I moved over six times! It was exhausting. I now view this period of my life as a crash course in flexibility amid chaos, but also, in House Clearing and Land Tending.
Each of these places I have lived needed something different from me, as a spiritual collaborator and physical resident.
Here are a few potent experiences from places I have tended to:
1. The Caretaker at The School
At "The School," the spirit of an man communicated with me in an old 1920s schoolhouse-turned-artist community. I recall living here as a particularly rich time for my creative practice and spiritual growth.
Living in this old building, I used to receive dreams from a pertinent figure; a male Caretaker of sorts. I dreamed of him twice. His energy wasn't malevolent, per se, but sometimes it did feel oppressive, angry, and suspicious. Once, with the help of a plant spirit ally, I raised my psychic consciousness, and the Caretaker intercepted me while I was walking down to use the bathroom. He said "hey girl! Come down here." I responded, not even verbally out loud, but firmly in my psyche: No. You are not a part of this experience.
Months would pass, and one day I had to go down into that area of the building, into the basement. It was the only place to turn on the water hose behind the building that I used as a Summer shower. I noticed the same chair I always did, but in a new way. It sat empty, facing a wall, in a room with no windows, which was barely/ rarely if ever lit. This time, I received a distinct sense that this was a "spot" of his. I decided the chair needed moving outside; that there was no reason for this kind of space to be "held open." I never felt the need to tell this spirit to leave, but I just didn't think they needed specific hosting this way. The boundaries I set when I was having a trance journey with a plant spirit seemed to suffice to keep me from having to directly communicate with him again.
2. The Pentagram Duplex
In 2020 I began renting one half of a house in my home town. This is the home that existed within 5 evenly spaced oaks and poplars, with countless species of mushrooms fruiting beneath each tree, and along the wild-hedge fence line just below my bedroom window. I experienced significant phenomena here, like waking in the night to a deep and continuously droning buzzing noise, that would send me hunting for will-o-the-wisps at night. I would take long walks, alone, tracking the sound through my neighborhood. I was never able to find its source.
It was here I also dreamt of spirits of decay and waste. They spoke to me in my sleep and told me that I had to sing a certain song, so that spirits of waste would "know where to go." It was very abstract, and it still is. I don't quite know what it means. But my personal relationships with fungi, and with my own waste practices have shifted dramatically since this time.
3. The Fairy Tale Cottage
In 2021 I began renting a cottage from someone who proved to be an abusive landlord. I rented this cottage on the same land that her house was built on; she was a very close next door neighbor. When she began to verbally attack and threaten myself and my then-partner, the energetic stickiness was high. We were on "her land," but then again, was it really "hers?"
Between the time my then-partner and I announced our exit and when we were actually able to move, her attacks escalated. It was also clear that she was experiencing dementia and psychosis. I felt compassion for her experience, but I was also deeply suffering on behalf of her delusions.
Simply telling her, clearly and repeatedly:
"Please don't say things like that. There is no need to be mean, don't call us names" etc. wasn't working. She continued making transphobic and disparaging comments. At this point many folks would have turned to police or the legal system. However, she was a moneyed person, a little old white woman, and a "property owner," and I am (also white), working class, and I was in a visibly queer relationship. And we currently weren't protected by a legal lease.
As a person who hasn't ever felt that real justice results from the use of hierarchical legal resources, I set to work my own way:
* I walked the perimeter of the cottage and laid down some deep prayer, calling in requests to spirits of land to build a buffer between her house and mine
* I laid black salt on the perimeter of the cottage inside the house, which I then vacuumed up before moving
* I intuitively sensed and received consent to harvest some small thorny branches from the land around the cottage and wove them together with red thread. I hung it as a ward on the inside of the front door; the one this woman was constantly showing up at, uninvited.
Finally, right before we moved and left this nightmare/ fairy tale cottage (truly, a beautiful-looking place to live, with a twisted underbelly of truth hiding in wait below its surface, re: abuse) I noticed Datura, also known as Devil's Trumpet or Jimsonweed, growing on the perimeter of the cottage. Her message and the land's message was clear: there is trouble here. Straighten your spine. Shield yourself. Move on.
These are a few of myriad experiences I've had tending Land, Home and Hearth in real-time.
